Empowering Kids to Make Their World Better Through Art

In June, we have an "Art for A Cause" themed art show held at Countryside Gallery in historic Newtown.

Art can do more than decorate!  Art can educate, influence and inspire. I encourage students to use art to raise awareness and support the causes that they are passionate about in a positive and proactive way. Each year, the students suggest causes that are important to them and we make a list. Then in November, the students vote for the cause that will be the theme of our art show & fundraiser that year.

Past art shows can be viewed on our Youth Art Shows page.

I am currently unable to accept new students.
But I highly recommend Seufert Art Studio in Fairless Hills PA

PAINTING HOPE for PA Lyme:
The silent auction of our 2 group paintings "Limes for Lyme" & "Camelback Bridge Over the Delaware Canal"
Plus note card sale and help from the Newtown Rotary,
raised over $1,000 for PaLyme.org!

CLASS INFO:   Classes start in September shortly after Labor Day

and are held through May (end date TBD).  There are no summer classes.

Students 4th grade and up practice good drawing skills while exploring

various art mediums including pencil, pastel, acrylic on canvas, and

watercolor. (No crafts or clay) This is a traditional drawing and painting

workshop geared towards having fun, building confidence and giving back

to our community through art.

Small class size ensures individual attention and that students progress

at their own pace.   Each class is made up of students of mixed ages

and skill levels.  We do not all copy the same sample painting in these classes.  Every art project is customized to your child's interests!  Students are encouraged to invest their time and effort into producing quality art as opposed to quantity - this is not a race.  Please wear "play clothes" as sometimes art gets messy and can leave stains.  Thank you.

Full disclosure: I do not have a teaching degree, I have a degree in fine art and graphic design and work as an artist and designer for the Lenox.  My work can be found at bonnieporter.com so you can get a feel for my background, or you can visit my "Meet The Instructor" page on this website.  I enjoy sharing what I know with students, providing a safe space for self expression, and encouraging them to use their art to make their world a better place.

TUITION: Tuition is monthly, $20 per 1 hour class includes all materials, and is due by the first class of each month.  There are no semester contracts and you are only committed to one month at a time.  Class meets once each week except for holidays, and I will let everyone know how many classes will be held each month.  HOLDING YOUR SPOT: If your child needs to stop art class for a month or so to play a sport or participate in another activity, I can only save your child's spot for a holding fee of 50% of the tuition for each class missed up to 6 classes. I do have a wait list, so I cannot hold a spot for longer than that.

ATTENDANCE:  Students are expected to set this time aside each week for art class, just like any other after school activity.  There are no refunds or prorating for cancellations or absences.  However, if something comes up and your child needs to miss a class, please call or text me ahead of time to let me know and I will try to offer a makeup class. Make up classes are not guaranteed nor owed, and can only be offered to you if a spot in another class becomes available. I do not offer make up classes for "no shows" with no advanced call, text, or email to let me know that your child will not be attending class. The reason being that if you do not let me know that your child will be missing class, that eliminates the opportunity for another student to use that spot for their own make up class.  HOLDING YOUR SPOT: If your child needs to stop art class for a month or so to play a sport or participate in another activity, I can only save your child's spot for a holding fee of 50% of the tuition for each class missed up to 6 classes. I do have other children on a wait list, so I cannot hold a spot for longer than that.

UNEXPECTED CLASS CANCELLATIONS:  In the event that I have to cancel a class due to illness or bad weather, I will contact everyone via text and email, and a credit will be offered towards the next month of classes.  If it is your child's final month of art classes, then a refund will be issued.  Please provide your contact info before your child's first class.  Thank you.

Students Helping Students:  Local youth came together to create one collaborative painting, "Sunflowers for Ukraine" to raise funds for Ukrainian refugee children. (Watch the YouTube video below!) Posters featuring their sunflower painting are still available at Countryside Gallery in Newtown while supplies last.  100% benefits Ukrainian refugee children new to our schools.
